You almost don't need the directions to set the lock, it's so easy. Opens without a problem after you set it - no sticking.You only need to remember three numbers, and they even give you a little card you can note the numbers on and hide somewhere else if you think you'll forget them.I have a lot of books so a book safe is a perfect place for things I want to keep safe but don't need to get to very often - passport, credit card #s, BCs. I took another customer's suggestion and went to a second hand bookstore (bringing my safe with me) and picked out the most boring book I could find with a removable cover that fit my safe.The problem with some of these safes, IMV, is that they have titles interesting enough that someone might actually take the safe (thinking it's a book - you don't notice the plastic looking pages if you put the book on a shelf above eye level) off your shelf to look at it, or even want to borrow it, and then where are you?Now my safe REALLY blends in with my other books and the chance of someone wanting to take it off my shelf is remote - I know NO ONE interested in the bees of South Africa - and if anyone wonders why I have it I'll say my grandfather's brother wrote and signed it!I ordered another book safe so I could compare and contrast the two but this one came first and I liked it so much I returned the second one without even evaluating it.I'm using this to hold my passport and such when going to uni and I mean it will defiently work and it blends in with my poetry books well. Mine had a corner hit in but I don't mind since it adds some sort of realism. Definitely recommend.The spine looks pretty good and the lock works well, the pages look like super fake plastic. Overall decentGood very important stuffI really liked this as it really does blend with other real books and you can put in good amount of things in itAlthough the pages don’t look real and it’s all around not that believable as a book. If it’s on your bookshelf and no one picks it up I really don’t think anyone would notice. The safe does seem to hold up pretty well though.This thing isn't that deep but it is deep enough to hold a man's wallet some watches, rings, and some important documents. I would say a brick will not fit but is just under the size of a brick. Comes with 2 sets of keys and looks like any other book.Lightweight and easy to put somewhere.
