Hauntingly beautiful music ??The best album of all time. Pure genius!Ok, when I first picked this one up and listened to it a couple of times I was kind of dissapointed. A couple of the Nascimento songs like "Cravo E Canela", "San Vicente" absolutley wonderful, very infectious and addictive, but, the Lo Borges contributions didn't seem like my cup of tea. Luckily, I kept listening. All I've got to say is the previous reviwers are not joking! This album has grown on me in a serious way and I'm listening to it at least twice a day now. If you've already acquired the taste for Brazillian music, don't be afraid, go ahead and treat yourself, you won't be dissapointed. If you're just now getting into brazillian music (this is THE first Nascimento album to buy), go ahead and give it a chance, you will find a song or 3 that you like right off the bat, keep listening, and before long you'll be fanatically in love with every track on the album. (the good thing about that is, there are plenty of diverse tracks, it might take anywhere from a few days up to a few months to really get inside it, this is one you can get your money's worth out of). I know this one's gonna have serious staying power in my collection. Viva Milton!I've listened to this album 9-10 times in the last three days since I received it, and I haven't tired yet. In fact, it only whets my appetite for more. If everything in the world I had was taken from me, and I had only 15 bucks left to my name, I'd go on out and buy this album again. Because it would sweeten the agony of my loss and make life possible again. You think I'm exaggerating? If you have any soul at all, if you have even a vestigal appreciation of good music, you will love this album. I have no less than 5000 albums in my collection, and right now this one is in the top ten. Think: Abbey Road. Think: OK Computer. Think: Gil E Jorge. Think: What's Going On. Think: MBV's Loveless. It's that good. This is one of my all-time favorite albums, and I don't speak a word of Portuguese. One of these days I will write a belated love letter carefully detailing everything about this album that makes me feel great. Until that day, I will just state that this music takes me to a different and better place with the consistent excellence of its songwriting, its arrangements, its performances and its production. Also, check out Lo Borges' self-titled debut album for more of the same. The music is amazing as is well documented in other reviews - BUT - if you order the LP/vinyl as I did, inspect it carefully upon opening. The first copy I received was deeply scratched on track 1 side 1, the replacement sent is also scratched on another track but the defect is not audible so I am hanging with it. Probably suffering from bad handling practices at pressing/packaging plant.Recently discovered this masterpiece via Apple Music. However, Apple Music and the iTunes version of the album are missing tracks 16-21. Very grateful that Amazon carries the full album for a great price. Do yourself a favor and pick this record up. It is truly beautiful and inspiring and has showed me the amazing music from Brazil.A lot of reviews on Amazon are so effusive and undiscriminating that it makes me distrust all of these Amazon reviews. So I've been quite wary of all the hyperbolic praise of various CDs but have to say that this is an extraordinary record. Anyone interested in music must buy this CD -- it has a wonderful, freewheeling and lyrical quality to the music and the singing that really stands out both in Brasil and worldwide.I came to know Milton's music many years ago e.g. through songs such as cacador de mim after which I travelled other paths. So I wasn't sure about this later work but repeated listening repays. It has grown on me - like a good wine given time to breathe. This is a piece of art. The package itself is great, well printed and illustrated. Milton Nascimento and Lo Borges made something special and unique that will remain as one of the best albums of all time. Excellent re-issue of an original classic. Clube da Esquina is not Bossa Nova but a derivative style which is closely linked to the State of Minas Gerais (from where the musicians come from). Beautiful songs with touching lyrics, which reflect much of the vast inland landscape of Minas Gerais. Calming soft sounds or more intense rhytm depending on the feelings expressed, but always a pleasure to listen toringrazio dio o chi per lui per avermi fatto conoscere in questa vita "clube da esquina". commovente, una voce unica che sembra arrivare da un altro mondo
